This is Rudolf Steiner's remarkable autobiography in which he traces his life through the forty-sixth year. Rather than focusing on the outer events, he describes the path of his soul development and the struggles he went through to develop his world view. This autobiography allows us a glimpse into the soul of one of the most significant figures of the 20th century.

The 38 short chapters of this autobiography originally appeared serially in German. Collected together, they form a coherent book of about 350 pages.

In addition to this book, there are biographical writings about Rudolf Steiner by several authors including G. Wachsmuth, R. Rittelmeyer, A. Steffen, and Gary Lachman.
